Other computer programmes include; computer net working and repair, and programming. Other computer training programmes are thought to be put in place for the betterment of the students’ future.
Life skills
We sensitize the community members especially the youths (in school and out school) on life skills issues.
The training is composed of two training services;
a) Training of service providers in adolescent RH friendly services. This programme is intended for service providers.
b) Management of ASRH clubs in school and out of school. This programme is intended for club leaders.
Many youths within our community face adolescent sexual and reproductive health problems like early marriages, abortions, drug abuse, early pregnancies, early marriages etc. Therefore we try to educate the youths how to overcome these challenges and their possible solutions.

HUPGEN OTHER YOUTH PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES
Peer education for Adolescent sexual and reproductive health
Peer Education for Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health issues. Our role is to provide effective and sustainable sexual and Reproductive Health information / Education and services to Adolescents and youths to bring about attitudinal and behavioral change towards a health sexual life.
Boys and girls in and out of school are organized in peer learning clubs and trained to handle peer education sessions to other fellow peers through a youth to youth (Y2Y) approach.
HUPGEN has formed various in and out of school reproductive health youth clubs within our community for quick and easy implementation of this programme.
HIV/AIDS Counseling
Counseling is one of the services offered by HUPGEN.
This service is effective in providing accurate information about HIV/AIDS, STDs, treatment, Family Planning, human rights, appropriate referral Services centers as well as enhancing living positively with HIV/ AIDS. It also promotes prevention of further spread of HIV.
Counseling in HUPGEN is accessed by individuals, couples, children and family members. Counseling takes place at the center.
The client is given a counselor and there is a lot of mutual trust between the two where principles of different levels of confidentiality are observed. Counseling is always extended to the members of the clients' family in order to promote acceptance of care of people with HIV/AIDS and encouragement to those who may still be in fear of finding out their HIV Sero-status. It also becomes very helpful during bereavement.
Advocacy
HUPGEN views HIV/AIDS as a multi-pronged problem that calls for concerted effort from all sectors of life. Through advocacy at local levels, HUPGEN increases awareness on various HIV/AIDS issues and influences the attitudes of all those in high positions in society. As a result they contribute positively towards the well being of the infected and affected, and they keep the negative effects of the epidemic, such as stigmatization to a minimum. HUPGEN’s advocacy aims at sensitizing people with AIDS and society as a whole to understand the rights and responsibilities of the infected. This is done through:
Youth music festivals.
‘HUPGEN’ members are involved in music dance drama activities. They stage educative shows on reproductive health issues and other developmental programmes to the target groups i.e. youth of 10-24 years in and out of school. We participate in various shows and organize Youth music festivals on themes related to RH issues and development, every year jointly with support from the community and other organizations involved in related programmes.
This has enabled us to educate the adolescents and elders too on reproductive health problems such as early pregnancies, STDs and HIV/AIDS, Child abuse etc, their causes and possible solutions.
VCT Services. VCT provides the opportunity for people to know their HIV status with quality counseling support to help them cope with a positive or a negative test result.
The majority of adult populations are HIV negative, even in high HIV prevalence settings. Knowing one is HIV negative can serve as a strong motivating factor to remain negative, particularly for those who may otherwise assume it is too late to adopt safer sexual practices.
For people who test positive, while VCT services can link them to options for treatment if and where they exist, and to care and support, just as important, it allows for adoption of preventive measures.
For some, self-protection is a stronger motivator for safer sex than the need to protect others; for others, the responsibility to avoid spreading the virus is itself the critical motivator. Both contribute to HIV prevention.
By knowing one's positive status, HIV positive individuals may become more motivated to adopt a more healthy lifestyle that improves their health status and slows the progression from HIV infection to symptomatic HIV disease and full blown AIDS – for example, avoiding further risks of infection with other viral strains and STIs, seeking early treatment for opportunistic and HIV/AIDS related infections, eating healthy food, avoiding tobacco and reducing stress.
Knowing one is HIV positive also provides an opportunity to protect sexual partners and to plan for the future from an informed position - deciding on marriage and on child bearing, and preparing children and family for the progression of disease and death.
Today, there are many HIV positive people who are living healthy and positive lives. They serve as strong and effective HIV/AIDS advocates and also provide valuable support and motivation for others infected with HIV and affected by the epidemic
Sports and games
Sports and Games is among the activities which take place at the center.
The youth participate in football, netball and other games too. Sport activity has not only promoted member’s talents but also releases some excess energy, which adolescents would have otherwise used in un-desirable activities like early sex, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse etc .
Sports and games also enable us to mobilize the youth for reproductive health programs and other developmental youth activities.
Community Service and PHAST program.
HUPGEN members engage in home visits. They wash clothes and utensils, clean homesteads and repairing dwelling places most especially for the needy people within the area. The youth participate in other community work such as general cleanliness on church premises, markets, roadsides etc.
Therefore doing community work has created a good image for the organization within the community
PHAST
PHAST stands for “Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation”. The approach is a participatory learning methodology that seeks to help communities improve hygiene behaviours, reduce diarrhea disease and encourage effective community management of water and sanitation services. It uses a participatory approach to community learning.
